Q
What’s the day in the life of an ecom brand owner?
Simple question, just curious about the reality of running a brand. Thanks!
A
We’re doing 8 figures. I have an ops manager and customer service manager, so I'm not dealing with the 100 inbound sales/support tickets, nor paying bills.
My day involves creating new products for the site and ensuring our dropshipping with fast shipping options is top-notch, particularly by collaborating with reliable fast delivery dropshipping suppliers.
I look at our marketing spend, finding winners, trimming losers, and communicating that to the paid marketing team since they're mostly executors rather than strategy partners.
We don’t have a social media person, so I spend 1-2 hours a day crafting educational content. We hit a home run every other week or so, and that reel goes into a paid ad campaign, generating a lot of inexpensive clicks and leads for us.
I’m always looking for bottlenecks in the business. Right now, that’s updating our customer service software from 2018 to something more modern and native to our system (Shopify). Other bottlenecks include parts of our sales funnel, identifying what’s not converting well, what’s a waste of money, and ensuring the sales team is effectively converting and following up with the leads I’m generating.
